Project Overview:
Fragmented Realities was an immersive billboard and augmented reality (AR) experience at Pimlico Station, showcased during the Art Below Summer Showcase and curated by Ad Lib Gallery. The project brings together spatial design, cultural research, and visual storytelling to explore identity within one of the city’s most visible public spaces, the London Underground.

Growing up in North London with British-Nigerian-Zambian heritage, I see London as both an archive and a mirror. Reflecting the tension and beauty that come with living between cultures, memories, and expectations. The London Underground, as a shared transit space, provided a compelling backdrop to explore how we carry multiple identities through ever-changing environments.

In Transit - London as a Cultural Mirror:
London is a city shaped by migration, motion, memory, and contrast. This project reflects my experience of navigating the city’s intersections. How culture and identity shift as we move through space and time. Pimlico Station’s diverse commuters and rhythms offered a dynamic setting for this exploration.

Fragmentation as Spatial Language:
The billboard features a large-scale portrait that reframes fragmentation as layered and refracted, rather than broken. The accompanying on-site AR filter invites viewers to navigate the image in three dimensions, uncovering motion, facets, and a gentle pulse that brings the space to life.

Together, the physical and virtual layers create a reflective space that celebrates complexity as power. Extending digitally through a 3D model, viewers can explore the installation’s spatial narrative, bridging site-specific memory with accessible immersion.

Core Message:
“What if the parts of you that felt fragmented were never… broken?”

Our cultures, memories, displacements, and expressions shape how we move through the world. Not as fractures, but as forms of becoming.

Shared Making, Shared Voice:
This project was co-created with Lemari Komuhendo, who joined as Junior Campaign and Content Producer during a Creative Placement Week. Her contributions in research, campaign strategy, and digital storytelling were vital in shaping the public presentation of the work. This collaboration reflects my commitment to inclusive creative processes, especially supporting emerging Black and underrepresented talent.

Key Themes Explored in This Work:
Cultural hybridity, memory, identity, diaspora, transformation through space, public art as a space for reflection and dialogue, and collaborative creative processes.
